Mo is a refreshingly imperfect hero. He’s insecure, often overwhelmed, and deeply affected by how others see him, yet he still steps up when it matters. His perspective adds a lot of heart to the story, making the danger feel more intense because we understand what he has to lose.

At its core, the book is about finding courage when you feel small and misunderstood. The mix of laugh-out-loud moments with genuinely tense scenes makes for a compelling reading experience. This is a strong opening to a series that promises even bigger mysteries ahead.

I am glad to get my hands on this latest book by Michael. I highly recommend it to middle grade fiction fans.
