Bastymania!

Image
Title: Bastymania! Author: Mary Ganim  Rating: 5/5 ⭐ My Thoughts: More than just a comic book, Bastymania is a satirical historical fiction that captures the spirit of rock’s formative decades. The narrative follows a band, echoing the trajectories of real-life icons without directly copying them. This blend of satire and semi-fiction gives the story its unique charm. The band’s journey is anything but smooth. Their rise to fame is repeatedly threatened by internal conflict, reckless behavior, and plain bad luck. Yet these struggles are portrayed with warmth and humor, making the characters endearing even at their most infuriating. Their humanity is what keeps the reader invested. The book acts as an affectionate tribute to the songwriters, performers, and genres that defined an era. These references enrich the story, turning it into a celebration of creative influence rather than a simple parody. I had a great time reading this book. I highly recommend it to others.

A Season of Thunder

Image
Book: A Season of Thunder Author: Alex Gerrick  A Season of Thunder is an intriguing and introspective work that blurs the line between fiction and lived experience. Alex Gerrick delivers a narrative driven by memory, trauma, and an unrelenting need to understand the past. The novel unfolds as a personal investigation, drawing readers into a world shaped by war, secrecy, and long-buried guilt. Gerrick is unafraid to explore uncomfortable territory, from post-war atrocities to the lasting impact of childhood trauma and PTSD. The story’s international scope, moving between Australia and Europe, reinforces the idea that history leaves scars no matter how far one travels. The writing is lucid, rewarding readers who appreciate character-driven storytelling. Rather than offering easy answers, A Season of Thunder invites readers to sit with ambiguity and consider how truth, once uncovered, can both heal and wound. This is a thoughtful and haunting book that lingers long after ...

Anasazi Vision

Book: Anasazi Vision  Author: True North  Rating: 5/5 Anasazi Vision opens with a deeply personal emotional thread anchored in True’s relationship with her Mama. From the early pages, her presence shapes the narrative, not through constant action, but through memory, guidance, and emotional inheritance. True carries her voice with her, and it becomes clear that her journey forward is inseparable from the lessons and love she instilled in her. The author portrays True’s Mama with tenderness, allowing her influence to unfold naturally through reflection. Her role feels authentic, highlighting the way parental bonds continue to guide us even in absence or distance. These moments give the story its emotional core and make True’s inner conflict feel relatable. By centering the early narrative around True and her Mama, Anasazi Vision establishes itself as a thoughtful exploration of family, memory, etc. It’s a meaningful read for anyone who understands how deeply a paren...

Dave and Me

Image
Title: Dave and Me  Author: Rusty Austin  Rating: 5/5 Very few books manage to hook readers from the very first page, and Rusty Austin’s Dave and Me is one of them. In the “Lightning Golf” chapter, the author recounts a memorable outing with his best friend Dave, when they decide to play golf on a stormy day along with Dave’s wildly unpredictable girlfriend. As thunder looms overhead, Rusty’s fear of being struck by lightning adds tension and humor to the scene. But does lightning actually strike? Throughout the book, Austin masterfully captures the rhythm of real conversations and the unpredictability of everyday life. The stories feel deeply personal. As you read, you may even find yourself reflecting on your own friendships. Austin’s ability to laugh at himself and those around him builds an instant sense of trust with the reader. Anyone who enjoys humor-driven storytelling will thoroughly enjoy this book. I was particularly impressed by the author’s sharp wit. ...

A Pure Heart with No Boundaries

Image
A Pure Heart with No Boundaries  By Shechinahglory Tucker This book spoke to my heart in ways I didn’t expect. A Pure Heart with No Boundaries is raw, emotional, and deeply reflective. Shechinahglory Tucker doesn’t shy away from the hard truths: abandonment, toxic relationships, spiritual confusion, and the struggle to put yourself first without guilt. What stood out most was the balance between vulnerability and spiritual wisdom. The author’s reflections on inner child healing, shadow self-work, and God’s voice in unexpected places feel incredibly authentic.  The workbook sections and reflection questions make this book perfect for readers who want more than inspiration; they want transformation. This is a book you don’t rush through, you sit with it, journal alongside it, and let it work on you. A must-read for anyone on a faith-based healing journey. Rating: 5/5 🌟
