Electric Summer

Book: Electric Summer

Author: Jedi Christensen

My Thoughts:

From the very first chapter, Electric Summer pulls you in with warmth, humor, and heart only to rip the ground out from under you. Jedi Christensen delivers a sci-fi mystery that feels both futuristic and painfully relatable, centered on friendship, loss, and the cost of chasing dreams in a world built on spectacle.

Nick, Judy, and Scott feel like real people you might know. Their shared plans make the early chapters feel light and optimistic, which makes the sudden tragedy all the more devastating. The emotional fallout is handled with care, allowing grief to unfold naturally instead of rushing it for plot convenience.

The setting of Future World is imaginative and fun on the surface, but it slowly reveals itself as something colder and more unsettling. Bright lights, smiling mascots, and endless entertainment create a perfect backdrop for a mystery where the truth is actively buried. The investigation unfolds at a steady pace, keeping me on the edge of my seat.

What makes Electric Summer stand out is how well it balances genres. It’s part sci-fi, part mystery, part emotional coming-of-age story, all tied together by a strong narrative voice.
